Graduate Division Student Parent Grant

Before proceeding with the rest of the application, please review the eligibility information below, and then confirm your contact information (i.e., email address) at the bottom of this page.

To be eligible for Parent Grant funding for 2023-24, a student must:

• live with at least one dependent child who is under the age of 18 at the start of the term,
• file a 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need,
• be making satisfactory progress in their academic program,
• be no more than two years past normative time to degree in 2023-24, and
• remain enrolled during each term of funding
  • Students on approved in-absentia status are eligible for the grant
  • Students on approved filing fee status are not eligible for the grant; filing fee is not a form of registration

The following students are not eligible:

• International students. Only U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and AB540-eligible students qualify for these awards. The Berkeley International Office administers a separate parent grant program for international students, and
• Students in self-supporting programs (see pages 1-3 of this document for a current list of self-supporting programs.)

The 2023-24 Student Parent Grant application will open after 7/1/2023 and will close on 12/01/2024. Award notifications will begin in mid-July and continue throughout August. Parents of children born after the deadline may still submit applications, with prorated grants awarded as funding permits.
