Graduate Division Student Parent Grant

Before proceeding with the rest of the application, please review the eligibility information below, and then confirm your contact information (i.e., email address) at the bottom of this page.

To be eligible for Parent Grant funding for 2026-27, a student must:

  • live with at least one dependent child who is under the age of 18 at the start of the term,
  • file a 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need,
  • be making satisfactory progress in their academic program,
  • remain enrolled during each term of funding
    • Students on approved in-absentia status are eligible for the grant
    • Students on approved filing fee status are not eligible for the grant; filing fee is not a form of registration

The 2026-27 Student Parent Grant application will open after 7/1/2026.  Award notifications will begin August. Parents of children born after the deadline may still submit applications, with prorated grants awarded as funding permits. If you are currently expecting a dependent, please move forward with the application, use the due date as the birthday and send a notification to dreyesrivera@berkeley.edu once the baby is born.

If you are a new student, you might be directed to your admission application. Cancel the popup showing the existing application and click the Start New Application link. You will then be able to create an application under Fellowships 2026-27.
