If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the I School Admissions Team by email at admissions@ischool.berkeley.edu.I understand and acknowledge the following (please check each box):I acknowledge I am enrolling in the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley to pursue the online Master of Information and Data Science program (henceforth the "Program"). University of California, Berkeley is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.The Program is an academic program provided by the University of California, Berkeley School of Information and administered online from the school's main campus in Berkeley, CA.By accepting the offer of admission I declare that I understand and will comply with all university regulations, requirements, and conditions such as mandatory trainings, vaccinations, document requirements, etc.I understand I am required to finish my undergraduate degree and the date of degree conferred should be before the start of the 5th Year MIDS program.I am required to complete 27 credits as part of the Program through a proprietary online platform. I additionally acknowledge that as part of the Program curriculum I will be required to attend one 3-4 day immersion as a prerequisite for graduation. I understand that I will be responsible for the associated travel and program costs.I acknowledge that the Program consists of 27 specific DATASCI units (9 courses) taken in a required lock-step sequence over 4 terms, per the Required Course Sequencing section of the 5th Year MIDS Student Handbook. Students will take all courses with other 5th Year MIDS students in a cohort model, and proceed through the program following a prescriptive set of courses. The one exception is that students who have a strong foundation in relevant topics may be eligible to waive out of DATASCI 200, 203, and/or 205 by passing relevant waiver exams, as outlined in the 5th Year MIDS Student Handbook. Students who waive these course requirements will substitute other advanced DATASCI electives to fulfill the 27 units degree requirements to graduate, per the guidance of the Senior Director of Student Affairs.I understand that I am required to take DATA SCI 200 - Introduction to Data Science Programming during the first term as a core course in the MIDS curriculum, unless I pass the 200 waiver exam.I understand that I may be required to complete Linear Algebra and Data Structures and Algorithms bridge course(s) in my first term. I acknowledge that I will check my 5th Year MIDS: 200 Waiver Exam Information and Bridge Coursework Requirements email to confirm my specific bridge course requirement(s). Registration in the courses DATASCI 205 - Fundamentals of Data Engineering and DATASCI 207 - Introduction to Machine Learning are contingent upon my successful completion of these bridge course(s).I understand that the Program may not be authorized in all states, and therefore if I move, I may not be able to continue in my program. Should I plan to move, I will contact my student support advisor well in advance to determine my options for continuing in the Program. Additionally, I understand that if I reside in Minnesota during my course of study, I will be required to earn an additional 3 units for a total of 30 units to complete the program.I acknowledge that Program has a Student Handbook, which sets forth various policies regarding the Program. I understand that I have access to and can obtain a copy of the Student Handbook at any time via the Learning Management System or by requesting a copy from my Academic Advisor. I understand and agree that I am to familiarize myself with and abide by the policies set forth in this document. I understand that failure to comply with any policies stated in the Student Handbook can result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the program.I further understand that all Program policies and practices, whether or not they are in the Student Handbook or Code of Conduct, may be unilaterally changed, amended, modified, reduced or discontinued by University of California Berkeley at any time in its sole judgment and discretion. I also understand that any amendment to the Student Handbook will always govern and supersede any prior versions.It is my obligation to determine whether the MIDS degree will qualify as a recognized degree by employers in the country in which I reside and will qualify me for certain positions with these employersI understand that during my participation in the Program, I will access my classes, assignments and interact with faculty and other students through an online learning management system. Once enrolled, I will receive access to the learning management system, which will allow me to access general university and program information, asynchronous materials that are part of my program, social media features of the learning management system, and other information pertinent to the Program. Additionally, I will have access to live class sessions through the learning management system, each of which will be recorded and archived in the learning management system.By submitting my intent to enroll, I understand and acknowledge that I will be required to interact with the learning management system as part of the Program, and I agree to the Terms of Use found at https://learn.datascience.berkeley.edu/terms and Privacy Policy found at https://learn.datascience.berkeley.edu/privacy.Live Sessions, Preparedness and Technology:Students are required to participate in weekly live synchronous classroom sessions as well as complete asynchronous course content for the program.Students are required to meet the minimum technology requirements for classroom participation. This includes: a personal computer no older than 2-3 years (students cannot attend live sessions via tablets or cellphones), reliable internet connection (hard wired preferred), webcam, and a working phone line (landline preferred).Students must maintain professionalism during weekly live sessions. You are expected to present yourself as a professional with a purposeful and positive attitude while remaining engaged during live sessions.
